OUTREACH

Gaetz Outreach (GO) strives to connect our church congregation with various charitable organizations. The intended purpose is to become knowledgeable about those organizations, understand the service they provide to vulnerable people and how GO volunteers can be of support.

The Mustard Seed of Red Deer
The Mustard Seed is a non-profit, Christian, humanitarian organization that responds compassionately to the needs of Alberta’s less fortunate by mobilizing and working with local churches and the community.

Safe Harbour
Central Alberta’s Safe Harbour Society for Health and Housing was formed on April 11, 2007. This unique agency is the result of the amalgamation of three not-for-profit agencies serving the community of Central Alberta, the Safe Harbour Society (detox and overnight shelter for individuals who are high or intoxicated), the Red Deer Residential Society (transitional housing units) and the Central Alberta Housing Society (homeless shelter and transitional housing). GO forwards any requests for needed items such as gloves or socks to our Facebook sites. Donations are collected in the bin in the Narthex and will be taken to their facility. We annually donate money from the Harold Perry Fund and items needed in December during our Reverse Advent/Reverse Collection. Backpacks and Christmas Blessings bags are filled from our donations!

Red Deer Food Bank
GO regularly supports the Food Bank by making donations from the Harold Perry Fund, by collecting food donated to the bin in the Narthex, at the annual BBQ at our church, at Thanksgiving and during Reverse Collection in December. Food is sorted at their facility and is shared with local organizations in Red Deer such as Mustard Seed as well as to other Food Banks in Central Alberta.

CAWES
GO is thankful to UCW for their continued outreach support to Central Alberta Women’s Emergency Shelter (CAWES). Money from the Harold Perry Fund is also donated each year to CAWES; we also collect items to be used at the shelter or for Welcome Hampers that can either be brought to the bin at church or taken to the Shelter (Phone first). CAWES also received needed items during our Reverse Collection.
