Marriage is one of God’s greatest gifts and the wedding ceremony is one of the most important events in a couples’ life.  This is a joyful and sacred occasion which should be entered into with faith.

We are an Affirming congregation, and thus marriage is open to all couples who are legally able to marry, regardless of sexual orientation or gender.

At Gaetz Memorial United Church, we warmly welcome couples wishing a Christian service of marriage.  We believe that a religious ceremony provides the blessing of God and that God is invited to be a partner in the covenant of marriage.  In the presence of God and before loved ones and friends, the couple make vows and promises of love and loyalty to one another for the rest of their lives.

A couple wishing to be married at Gaetz Memorial United Church will first meet with one of our ministers.  Once this initial meeting has occurred, the date for the wedding can be booked.  In addition, all couples are expected to attend a marriage preparation course. We recommend “Beginnings” offered by Family Services of Central Alberta.

At a subsequent meeting with the officiating minister, details of the marriage ceremony will be planned.  They will also discuss our policies on photographs, decorations, flowers, and pew markers.

The cost of holding a wedding at our church can be discussed with our Office Manager.

Weddings include the services of our organist, sound technician and wedding host.
